Study 18: The New Earth Where God’s People Will Live Forever
Almighty God created the Earth to be inhabited, and His Kingdom will be established on a renewed Earth where His people will live forever.
The Earth will be renewed.
God’s Original Purpose for the Earth
God created the Earth for a reason — for humanity to live on. He didn’t create it to abandon it.
- Isaiah 45:17-18 — God “formed the Earth… to be inhabited.”
- Genesis 1:26-28 — Humanity is given dominion over the Earth, not heaven.
- Psalm 115:16 — “The heavens are the Lord’s… but the Earth He has given to mankind.”
God’s plan remained the same, and never changed.
- Romans 8:18-25 — Creation itself waits for resurrection because creation will be renewed.
The New Earth: Heaven Comes Down
God does not take us away from the Earth. He brings His dwelling to the Earth.
- Revelation 21:1-5 — “A new heaven and a new Earth… the holy city coming down.”
Jesus’ Teaching: The Earth Is the Inheritance
Jesus Himself taught that righteous people will inherit the Earth.
- Matthew 5:5 — “The meek shall inherit the Earth.”
- Matthew 6:10 — “Your kingdom come… on Earth as in heaven.”
The Old Testament Prophets Saw a Renewed Earth
The prophets consistently described a restored, peaceful, physical Earth.
- Isaiah 11:6-9 — Peace in creation.
- Isaiah 65:17-25 — “New heavens and new Earth.”
Why a New Earth?
Because God will finish what He started. His plan is not to abandon His creation, but to redeem it.
- Colossians 1:19-23 — Christ reconciles “all things… on Earth.”
