As implementations of His perfect design, contemplate your hands, what they do, how you use them.
Those who went before us as disciples of Christ used their hands to work, heal, help, instruct, console.
Almighty God YHWH did extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul. Acts 19:11
And when Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking in tongues and prophesying. Acts 19:6
Our hands are a magnificent creation.
Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us. Psalm 90:17
The hands do not work alone.
They are part of a greater whole, as an individual a body, and as the body of Christ.
For the body does not consist of one member but of many. If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. ... The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 1 Corinthians 12: 14-30
Every part of the body is needed to function as a complete arrangement.
Wherever you are…
Whatever your hand finds to do…
Do it with all your might! Ecclesiastes 9:10
The apostles were instructed about the use of their hands: Do not be hasty in the laying on of hands, nor take part in the sins of others; keep yourself pure. 1 Timothy 5:22
And as they were, so are we in God’s hands.
“O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter has done? declares the Lord. Behold, like the clay in the potter's hand, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel. Jeremiah 18:6
Raise up! Demonstrate and express compassion to yourself and others.
For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed. Hebrews 12:11-13
Let go of anger. And pray, without internal strife.
First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling. 1 Timothy 2:1-8
Oh sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things! His right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. The Lord has made known his salvation; he has revealed his righteousness in the sight of the nations. He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises! Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody! Psalm 98:1-8
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you. 1 Peter 5:6
What do you use YOUR hands for?
Appreciate your hands this week!
