How are people supposed to cope when so many negative situations are out of their control? When you are consumed with fear, whether the impending threat is real or imaginary your body reacts as though it were real. Reactions to fear in this way cause people’s bodies and minds to decline, and if not checked they can sink to low depression levels. For this reason, you must counterbalance yourself with positive thinking and techniques that bring about peace of mind.
Consider the number of positive things that Almighty God Jehovah/Yahweh has done for you. Breathe deeply, close your eyes, and think about these things. Appreciate the fact that your heavenly Father notices you and wants you in His kingdom. Take the advice that Paul gave in Philippians 4:6-7, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (NASB)
Governments use fear tactics to keep their populations under control. But when you know the Bible, you know that those governments will remain only until God’s kingdom rules. In God’s word, you will find courage, calm, and security, and ease your anxiety and fears. As you mature in God’s word, you learn that perfect love casts out fear. Read 1 John 4:18.
Peter teaches us great advice in 1 Peter 5:6-7, "Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you." (NASB)
Have trust and faith that your Creator will take care of you. Jesus gives us the precise instruction that we all need in Luke 12:22-26, "And He said to His disciples, "For this reason I say to you, do not worry about your life, as to what you will eat; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap; they have no storeroom nor barn, and yet God feeds them; how much more valuable you are than the birds! And which of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life’s span? If then you cannot do even a very little thing, why do you worry about other matters?" (NASB) Make sure that the most important concerns are at the top of your list.
