As we mature, we realize that countries and religions have territories and belief systems that keep the world and its inhabitants at odds and in conflicting wars. We also realize that it is not in the hearts of the nations' leaders to live in peace. The question then becomes, "Is this how our Heavenly Father and His Precious Son intended us to live our lives?" The answer clearly lies in the scriptures.
John Lennon and Yoko Ono envisioned a world with no countries. Isaiah confers with the wickedness of differing nations and in Isaiah 40:17, he declares, "All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity." In Revelation 16, John describes Jehovah's destruction of the nations and all of the wicked people who are eliminated at the end of Christ's testimony at his second coming. In Revelation 21:1 John writes, "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea."
Isaiah went on to describe the new earth in chapter 2:2-4, "And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow into it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more."
What an incredible promise of a perfect and peaceful world. Christ summed it up perfectly when He pronounced, "These things I have spoken unto you that you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." John 6:33
