Renewable Energy

Written by
Have you ever seen how silicon ingots are made? These special objects hold a unique property and are used to manufacture solar energy cells. The silicon ingots are sliced into thin wafers, and then exposed to positive and negative gases – forming a Positive-Negative (P-N) junction. The unique thing about silicon is that it acts as a semiconductor. When the silicon wafers are exposed to light, (photons) electrons are excited to bounce from one atom to the next. This forms an electrical circuit. As servants of God, we too are like solar cells. God has selected special people to learn about His kingdom. We have been introduced to the light of God and are excited to share this knowledge with others (John 8:12, 1 Peter 2:9), and we serve as semiconductors of enlightening information. Solar energy is often called renewable energy, because the use of light does not deplete resources on earth, such as coal, oil, and gas. As servants of God, we are renewable; our minds are teachable. We take energy from God and do not rely on our own way of thought, which can be contrary to God’s will (Proverbs 3:5-6). Some of the basic qualities that God teaches us are:

Our Mission In Life

Written by
“A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.” Proverbs 15:5

Our Heavenly Father created us as human beings to fulfill a unique mission during our time living on planet Earth between birth and death. He is our Father and His Son Jesus Christ is our King and Brother. The obvious and clear objective as we pursue our mission is to learn how to be obedient sons and daughters to this Father who gave us life.

Who is Hearing God's Word?

Written by
Evil is increasing daily through the works and words of people around the world. Do you see it happening? Through governments, businesses, and organizations, people with power and authority lie, steal, cheat, torture, oppress, abuse, and kill others. And yet in many cases no speedy consequences are given to them. What must Almighty God Jehovah/Yahweh think about these atrocities, which He foretold in the Bible hundreds of years ago?

At Death--and Resurrection to Life

Written by
If you are familiar with our monthly newsletters, you have probably noticed that the articles are generally written matter-of-factly, rather than from a personal view. However, this particular section will offer a bit of both.

Just recently, I sat close beside the beloved man who I knew as my father, stroking his forehead as he took the last, surprising gentle breaths of his life in this world. As difficult as those final weeks had been for him and our family, I consider it a true gift that I was able to be with him at the very moment the spirit of life left that feeble, sickly body that was no longer capable of allowing him a fulfilling existence. While there were, of course, many tears shed by those of us who loved him, there was also a sense of peace and relief that he was no longer bound by the suffering that had become part of his daily life for the last months and weeks. He was truly at rest.

Beliefs Pave Your Way

Written by
Almighty God Jehovah/Yahweh uses the Bible to teach us about beliefs, the importance of believing what is righteous, and shunning beliefs that are detrimental to the well-being of humanity. The Bible describes people who believed things they saw and experienced in the Old Testament and the New Testament when Jesus walked among them as he preached the Kingdom of God, healed the sick, and performed miracles. Some people who saw him believed, while others did not. We believe him today and are blessed even though we do not see him in person. Read John 20:29.

Everyone has a set of beliefs that drive the way they think, talk, and behave. A belief is a state or habit of mind in which trust or confidence is placed in a person or thing. [1] A belief is the psychological state in which an individual holds a proposition or premise to be true. A belief system is a set of mutually supportive beliefs that can be religious, philosophical, ideological, or a combination thereof. [2]

An End to the Violence?

Written by
The mass killing of young children, their defenseless teachers, and other school employees in Newtown, Connecticut cut to the heart of many people around the world, as did the murders and shootings of Webster, New York firefighters who were ambushed as they responded to a blaze set by their killer, and the brutal gang rape and beating that caused the death of a 23-year-old woman in India all just last month. More often than not, incidents like these are not isolated ones, and seem to occur with greater frequency and more calculated violence. Like many people, perhaps you, too, have questioned why and how some humans can treat others with such savagery and absolute disregard for life and feeling. At times, we may even feel like we are becoming desensitized to such brutality, because it seems to have become almost commonplace. While it might seem like a small consolation right now, the Bible provides some answers to the reasons behind mankind’s evil behavior, and proves there is an end in sight, too.

Time

Written by
The Time is always a current event. In fact, the time is always “now”, because we live from moment to moment in this life. How much time do you have, either today, or this week, or month, or year? If you had all the time in the world, what would you do differently than what you are doing now? And if you could do whatever you want, would it align with Almighty God Jehovah’s will for you?

A Resolution Worth Keeping

Written by

At the close of another year, many people engage in some reflective thinking about the time gone by. They may remember things they have done--both the positive and negative--or even harbor some regrets about what they didn’t accomplish. Some individuals embrace the beginning of a new year as a time to make a fresh start or resolve to become a better person in one way or another.

Perhaps you, too, have spent some time in recent weeks contemplating the future or considering the kind of person you are. Maybe you have cultivated some ideas about what you might improve or change in the months to come. But how quickly do your hopeful expectations seem to fade after a few weeks; forgotten in the midst of our generally hectic lives that seem to pass so quickly?

21 December 2012: The End of the World?

Written by
The conclusion of the year 2012 has sparked much attention, causing some to wonder if it will bring about the end of the world as we know it. Much of this speculation is based on the Mayan calendar, which does not extend beyond this year. That leaves some people questioning whether or not the ancient culture had a sort of divine insight about what might occur at that point in time. A series of popular books and movies about the end times has also added fuel to the curiosity. While speculation can sometimes cause people to question things on a deeper level, there are a number of fact-based points to take into consideration as to when this present world actually will come to an end.

Fear Factor

Written by
Are you familiar with the popular television program called “Fear Factor”? The context of the show pits contestants against one another who willingly participate in stunts that invoke fear or disgust in many people. Some past features included eating live cockroaches and laying in a tank with live snakes writhing over them. In the show, they can refuse a challenge at any time if they want to. Now take a moment to think about how many people are exposed to real fear every day, without a choice in the matter.
