Using Scripture to Develop a Common Theme

It’s amazing how some Bible verses have so much in common with each other.

Whether you read the Word of God, or you research certain subjects, themes exist all the way through.

The following Bible verses have some things in common. One thing in particular is the key to them all.

See if you can find it…

“Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept.” Matthew 25:1-46

Vessels with their lamps

Knowledge, you might say?

“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.” Matthew 24:36

Watching

Watching?

“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” Matthew 7:13-14

Narrow Gate

Navigating the right path?

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” Matthew 5:9

Blessed are the Peacemakers

Cultivating the right mindset and actions?

“And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems on its horns and blasphemous names on its heads. And the beast that I saw was like a leopard; its feet were like a bear's, and its mouth was like a lion's mouth. And to it the dragon gave his power and his throne and great authority. One of its heads seemed to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled as they followed the beast. And they worshiped the dragon, for he had given his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast, and who can fight against it?” And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months.” Revelation 13:1-18

Understanding prophecies?

“When justice is done, it is a joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers.” Proverbs 21:15

Hope of Almighty God YHWH/Jehovah’s kingdom.

“The one who conquers and who keeps my works until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations.” Revelation 2:26

“For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.” Romans 8:29

A future with the King.

Those answers would all be valid!

Now take your favorite garden hand shovel and dig a little deeper.

Look inward.

Now try this…

“Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.” John 15:2

Pruning

We must prune ourselves. And be pruned.

When we do, we can gain insight and knowledge. We know how to watch and why. We stay on the right path. And are allowed to understand prophecies. We have hope of the kingdom. To dwell with the King.

“My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love.” John 15:8-9

Before that all comes to pass, you and I must each focus on our own self.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, ...” And read on in Ephesians 6:10-18.

When we are pruned and focus on ourselves, we learn to be shod with the gospel of peace, hold the shield of faith, and wear the helmet of salvation.
