Striving For Perfection

As implementations of His design, we must strive for perfection. Matthew 5:48

Feet

We are accomplishments of His blueprints, His effort, His plan, His matter.

Leg

Retained by His son, we must go all-out for excellence in everything we do.

Foot

Almighty YHWH’s prophets endeavored for excellence.

Sandals

Christ’s apostles and disciples attempted it also.

Sandals2

In all their travels, many walked where they went.

Abraham’s goal was to walk the entire land that God gave him. Genesis 13:17

Land

At Moses' time, Israel was taught to teach God's words to sons when they were walking. Deuteronomy 6:7

Jesus and His disciples walked.

  • Now as Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Matthew 4:18
  • And in the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea. Matthew 14:25-26
  • And He said to them, "What are these words that you are exchanging with one another as you are walking?" And they stood still, looking sad. Luke 24:17

Being lame, some individuals couldn’t walk. But some were healed and then able to walk.

Front View

Today we attempt to walk according to the requirements given to us.

  • But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. Galatians 5:16-17
  • And walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma. Ephesians 5:2

Sometimes we stumble.

  • For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body. James 3:2

Sometimes we need to be unwavering to become perfect.

  • James 1:4: And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

It’s an internal art that requires practice.

We have help.

Just as they did.

Washing Feet

Now before the Feast of the Passover, Jesus knowing that His hour had come that He would depart out of this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end. During supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray Him, Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come forth from God and was going back to God, got up from supper, and laid aside His garments; and taking a towel, He girded Himself.  Then He poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded. So He came to Simon Peter. He said to Him, “Lord, do You wash my feet?” Jesus answered and said to him, “What I do you do not realize now, but you will understand hereafter.”  John 13

If we strive for excellence now, in the time to come we will walk with our King Jesus Christ forever.

Ephesians 4:1 Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called.

Flip Flops

If we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7
