bigstockphoto_news_1215526.jpgThanks for visiting our blog. This blog is dedictaed to current news and special interests that may not be found in our Bible Study or Prophecies sections.

Jesus Christ, Jehovah God's Son, told us to watch. We watch the news and current events because many situations might fit what the scriptures say. It can help us to better prepare ourselves for Christ's second coming. Our articles are meant for sharing on information to watch both in current events and in improving ourselves as disciples of Jesus Christ.

We encourage comments and information regarding Bible scripture.

God's Name

Did you know that God has a name other than "God", "Lord", "Father", "Almighty" or "I Am"? Jesus Christ declared God's name to his disciples. "And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them" (John 17:26). King Solomon mentioned it in a Proverb by asking, "…what is his name and what is his son's name, if you can tell?" See Proverbs 30:4.

At what point were God’s promises to the Israelite nation opened to the nations of the world?

Our Creator did not make us so that we can be stressed out all the time. But many of us are. We worry about day-to-day activities, how we will pay the bills, ways to interact with family members, how to help others, and how to be good Christian examples.

Do you constantly feel stressed out? Are your worries worth the mental effort that you expend? If you live in America, you probably run a busy life trying to keep up with work and home while attaining a work-life balance and still have some time to cultivate moments to retain your own sanity. Or maybe you have already learned how to manage the stress that you encounter regularly. Only you can determine the level of stress that is manageable for you.

If you find yourself overloaded or always taking care of someone else’s needs rather than putting your own needs ahead of others, you might need to look for ways to nurture your own inner self. You don’t have to relinquish helping others, but you should weigh the cost of not taking care of yourself in the process of your service to others. Identify ways to nurture yourself that do not cause you to neglect those you serve. Be aware that it takes time to analyze your own needs. Be patient and kind to yourself. Remember that Almighty God Jehovah gives mercy to those who love Him. Here are some ideas.
The U.S. recently celebrated an event that has almost become a national holiday--the NFL Super Bowl. While many “Super Sunday” football parties are a time for people to gather with family and friends and have fun as they cheer on their favorite teams, there is a more dark and brutal side to major sporting events than many would acknowledge. Although they are called "games", most people are accustomed to hearing phrases like, "winning is everything" and "nobody likes a loser". Indeed, winning has become everything, and often at all costs.

Consider the recent NFL football playoff games in January between the San Francisco 49ers and the New York Giants. After unsuccessfully completing two punt returns, player Kyle Williams received death threats and other scathing online tirades from angered fans. [1]

Fan violence during and after sporting events has become a fairly common occurrence. As recently as February 1st of this year, brutal clashes at a soccer match in Port Said, Egypt left at least 74 people dead and hundreds more injured. Following the final whistle the winning team's fans poured onto the field wielding sticks and stones against players and supporters of their long-time rivals. During the 1994 World Cup, Columbian soccer player Andrés Escobar accidentally scored an "own goal" in a match against the United States, in which Colombia lost 2-1. Upon his return home, Escobar was confronted outside a bar by a gunman who shot the player six times, killing him. [2]
Mercy
Almighty God Jehovah has shown mercy to all those who fear him. Mercy from Jehovah is something all people can receive. It is important to know what mercy is. Comparing the differences between mercy and grace can help you understand what mercy is. Grace is receiving something not deserved. Mercy is needed for the sins we have committed. Jehovah will not treat his people as their sins deserve or repay his people according to their iniquities (Psalm 103:10-11).
How is a person a temple for God?
Do you allow fear to get the better of you? Do you worry about things going on in the world, worry about work, family, finances, relationships, and so on? Do you wake up at night worrying? If so, become familiar with the Bible to help alleviate fear and anxiety.

Proverbs 12:25 says that anxiety in your heart can weigh it down. But as David wrote in Psalm 34:4, Jesus Christ and His Father can deliver us from all of our fears.

As is true with many people at the beginning of a new year, perhaps you also have spent some time contemplating the coming months or considering ways in which to improve some personal traits. Many people view a new year as a time to make a fresh start or resolve to become a better person in one aspect or another. However, it often seems that those hopeful expectations fade away after a few weeks, replaced by our generally hectic every day life.
Maybe you have also pondered what the future holds for you or your loved ones. So often the media shows only the dismal realities of life in this very troubled world and perhaps this creates a sense of uneasiness for you.

Here we are at the end of 2011 and what a year it has been. As is typical of this time of year, we see people bustling about to prepare for holiday celebrations, which includes the celebration of the birth of the God’s Son, Jesus the Christ. What many people do not know is that Jesus was not born in December. Most people do not even stop to think about it.
Every year it seems that Christmas is returning more and more to its original roots! Consider the headline by NBC Nightly News on November 25th: "Black Eye for Black Friday".[1] On that date, 10-15 shoppers were pepper-sprayed by an angry fellow shopper in line to snag the best deal first. A grandfather's face was bloodied and bruised because authorities thought he was shoplifting, when he was only trying to protect his grandson from being trampled by a crowd of crazed shoppers. One shopper was shot in a Wal-mart parking lot in South Carolina and another critically injured during a robbery outside a California Wal-mart. It appeared that the Christmas season was appropriately kicked off in the true nature from which it was derived: with violence and disregard for law and order. What? Isn't "Jesus is the reason for the season"? It's next to impossible to believe that those who pummeled and pepper-sprayed their fellow man in order to "get stuff" were acting in anything but the name of selfishness and greed.
